Chapter 10 | Achilles x Patroclus | M

This is stupid. What Patroclus is doing right now is stupid. The one good thing about being a prisoner was that nobody expected him to fight anymore. But now, wearing borrowed, ill-fitting armor, the circle of Peisandros’s men has closed around him, and there’s no turning back. It would be so much worse now to back out than if he had just rejected Peisandros in the first place.

He’ll do this. One display of his abilities, and they’ll move on. He just needs a decisive win.

Peisandros was always good with his weapons. It’s why he was paired off with Patroclus back in the day, and it’s almost definitely why he’s a commander now. But Patroclus was better, and Peisandros favored the spear over the sword. He reckons Peisandros has probably spent most of the war lobbing spears from the safety of his chariot and not on the ground in the muck. This will be a rude awakening for him.

The moment they are told to begin, Patroclus lunges. He is stronger than Peisandros, and he feels it in the way Peisandros parries his first blow, a slight wobble in his arm that tells Patroclus he can break it with enough hits. Patroclus could try finesse, for footwork and strategy and prodding weaknesses, but that won’t accomplish what he means to accomplish here. He doesn’t need these men surrounding him to know that he’s clever. He needs them to know that he will bury them if he has cause.

He slams blow after blow against Peisandros’s sword and shield, driving him backward. He does not allow him to recover from being on defense long enough to counterattack. He can hear the crowd murmuring darkly. They are not enjoying this. Good. Patroclus is not enjoying it, either. He is breathing hard. Peisandros gets one swing off, deflected off Patroclus’s shield. Patroclus uses his next swing to get in close to Peisandros, bearing down on him with all of his weight until Peisandros’s knees buckle and he goes tumbling to the ground. One touch of his sword to Peisandros’s neck and he will have thoroughly humiliated their commander and finished this fight.

He hears the hit before he feels it, a thud just behind his right ear. He trips over Peisandros as pain blooms across his neck, and he lands hard on his shield in the dirt. Somewhere behind him, men start yelling.

I'm Patroclus, but people can also call me Skops because its cute, and I like it. I use he/him, and I'm 15. (Yes, I know TSOA has some stuff in it, but it's generally vague and I skimmed most of those parts anyway.)

No, this isn't a blog just to post about TSOA. No, this isn't a roleplay blog! I'm literally Patroclus. Kind of a complicated subject, but y'know. I am.

Although DNI lists don't tend to work a whole lot, I figured it'd be good to at least put a general one up. If you have inappropriate things sitting on your blog (especially untagged!) I'd prefer you just stay away. Mediamates are completely welcome to interact, but other people who claim to be Patroclus aren't. Sorry!

I like wood carving (though it's mostly a side hobby for over the summer), Bryan Scary, Pokémon, Star Wars, and a few other things. I also play the viola, but only because I'm in the school orchestra, lol.
